Great Hollow Middle School students study the areas of the Middle East and Europe. Emphasis is placed on geography, government, and economics within a chronological historical framework for each region. In math students build on the foundation they already have in order to learn new ideas and to look at things they have already learned on a more advanced level. Topics studied throughout the year include computational skills with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, geometry, measurement, ratio, proportion, percent, number theory and problem solving. Great Hollow School agrees with the same principles upheld by the district, which is to promote the growth of each student through their own ability, assurance, and pride in a learning environment where each person can grow to become understanding, responsible, and productive citizens in an ever-changing world.
