Frederick Douglass Academy Iv Secondary School works to prepare each student to enter prestigious colleges and universities with an excellent foundation and a sense of self-confidence so solid that the dream of a college degree and a professional career becomes a reality. The School teaches basic core curriculum from a dedicated and talented faculty made up of teachers and other staff members. There are several educational programs that are being used with the goal of encouraging the growth and development of every student’s personal interests and capabilities. Other classes include; music, art, physical education, library, and computer lab. They continue to work on the Comprehensive District Educational goals, with a strong focus on English Language Arts and Math. They work toward exceeding the New York State Educational Standards. Social skills are fostered through Character Education; anti-violence/anti-bullying; and conflict resolution lessons, which were developed and implemented in each classroom.
