Francis X. Hegarty Elementary School has a full-day Kindergarten program where students are introduced to an integrated language arts program. In kindergarten, socialization skills are stressed while students become involved in music and art projects as part of the classroom curricula. Students also attend computer education, physical education, and library.
Students in grades one through four participate in language-based instruction where a foundation for later years is created. The use of anthologies, big books, paperbacks, and original writing creates a basis for developing skills. Lessons are created that incorporate math, language, social studies, and science into the regular school day. Students attend a computer lab on a weekly basis in addition to art, library, physical education, and music.
