Eugenio Maria De Hostos Microsociety School programs are designed to infuse business and government concepts through all aspects of academic instruction and social skills. Student are allowed to run businesses including a bank, courtroom, publishing center, government, library/media center, telecommunications center, and marketplace with student manufactured items for sale. Like a real life community, the school has its own constitution, government, elected legislative representatives, and a municipal court helps students understand how our government functions.
Eugenio Maria De Hostos Microsociety School engages in Dual Language Enrichment Models that offer both English language learners and English proficient students the opportunity for high academic achievement in an instructional setting where English and Spanish are used throughout the day. Educational programs and services are designed to meet the varying needs of all students and will not discriminate against any individual for reasons of race, creed, color, gender, national origin, economic status or handicap. Teachers work to ensure early literacy and language arts skills of the youngest students, ensuring their ability to read, write and think critically in all curricular areas including math, science, social studies, art, music, library skills, and physical education.
