Eldorado Elementary School is located at 5 Eldorado Drive Chestnut Ridge, NY and serves grades 4-6 in Rockland County. This School is very special in a number of ways, Eldorado has programs that are the envy of many. The school's Library Media Center and computer technology program is "state of the art". There are networked computers in all classrooms and a mobile laptop lab for use as well. In September, Eldorado became a recipient of a Literacy Grant which will enable us to house 24 PCs, 24 laptops and a Video room equipped to appeal to the special interests of the children at Eldorado.
Eldorado is an advocate for the arts. To that end, we have two special offshoots of the district's Arts in Education programs. The first is in the area of music, where talented youngsters have the opportunity to perform in school as well as with a district-wide band or orchestra. The second is in the area of art. Creative students are offered advanced Studio Art classes, where they have the opportunity to express their creative talents more fully than they might in the regular classroom. Both of these programs are unique to East Ramapo in Rockland County.
Throughout the entire range of academic programs, Eldorado's offerings meet or exceed all state requirements. Language arts, for example, are integrated into all other subject areas, while hands-on experiences are provided in science and social studies. Several initiatives have recently been introduced. Town Meetings, Cultural Arts Programs, Career Day, Earth Day, Principal's Breakfasts, Duryea Farms Program, Challenger Center, winter and Spring Concerts, Broadway Revue, Reading Counts Program, Keep Rockland Beautiful, Disabilities Awareness Day and Bully Proofing Youth Program are some of the offerings.
