Dolgeville Elementary School

About
Dolgeville Elementary School is located at 38 Slawson Street Dolgeville, NY. This school is a member of the Dolgeville Central School District who provides quality educations to grades PK through 6. Dolgeville Elementary School offers Head Start, a program where children from the ages 3-5 can come for early education before kindergarten. Head Start is federally funded, and the class takes a few field trips during the year.

A typical week in the class is Monday through Thursday 8:00AM to 3:00PM, and many times parents come in to volunteer. The students learn the alphabet, numbers1-10, colors, and shapes, learn to write their own name, and plant flowers for their science. The students also learn some animals and their sounds (moo). There are also some common day things that are taught, like tying a shoe, zipping a jacket, and buttoning a shirt.

Kindergarten is a fun and exciting time at Dolgeville Elementary School. The kindergarten team strives to provide a warm, friendly environment for children to grow. The kindergarten year is a time of change, development and growth. The children learn so much! We use many methods to teach children at their own individual levels. The activities we use, even those that look like “play”, are designed and planned to be developmentally appropriate and to teach the children the skills necessary for success in school.
