Cooperstown Middle School

About
Cooperstown Middle School is located at 39 Linden Avenue Cooperstown, NY and it serves grades 6-8 in Otsego County. Cooperstown established their Middle School in the fall of 1989, and a full time Principal was hired the following year. Serving grades 6 through 8, the Middle School is housed in one section of the Middle School building, and shares certain common facilities. Middle School Philosophy-An effective "middle-level education" should reinforce strong elementary beginnings and encourage equally strong high school accomplishments. Students should emerge from the Middle School experience with high hopes and the will to achieve, fostered by a positive self-concept. The entire school community must share responsibility for all students and provide the education, support and guidance required by each student.

The teachers all realize that no two of these students experience these transitional years in exactly the same way; that each individual is important. A Middle School, therefore, has a purpose all its own - the academic excellence and the personal and social development of its students.

Each student must be provided the academic skills to succeed at the higher levels of instruction in his or her future. The Middle School reflects an atmosphere of respect, caring and support for the student, as well as the faculty and administration. A love of learning and a commitment to the value of work are essential to the success of the students and the program. Everyone participating in the education of the middle level student encourages the curriculum and instructional processes best suited for students in these middle years.
