Connetquot High School has a talented group of educators whom strive to teach excellent standards and good morals. They desire students to learn how to exercise good judgment and decision making skills. The school is rich in music programs and two of the highlighted classes are High School Band and Vocal Music. High School Band is open to all competent students who have the approval of the director. Band rehearses five periods per week and is part of the regularly scheduled school day. In addition to daily rehearsals, each band member is required to attend one group lesson per week, which is scheduled, on a rotating basis. Band requirements include Marching Band performances; i.e., parades and performances at football games, concerts in and out of school.
Vocal Music course is open to all grade 9-12 students. Students will learn to improve their individual vocal skills and performance techniques as well as learn the skills required for ensemble singing and performing. Pitch awareness, rhythmic ability, voice tone quality, proper articulation, music reading skills and vocal style are reinforced during the daily large group chorus instructional period and through weekly small group lessons. Students are afforded the opportunity to perform at scheduled school concerts.
