East Middle School students will advance form East Middle at or above the skillful level in all academic areas so that they will graduate from High School with the option to attend college without remediation. The staff supports students as they work for academic and personal achievement that will help them become responsible citizens. Special projects, activities, and programs are planned to assist students in developing the academic, physical, social, and developmental fitness they will need to realize their potential. Students are reading daily from a variety of literary genres. Stories, fairy tales, folk tales, rhymes, poems and non-fiction books are used. Students learn to sequence stories. They demonstrate their ability to do this by drawing and writing. The School builds on the foundation of the elementary school experience; it is also their goal to provide an expanded foundation for students’ successful transition to the high school.
