Amherst Middle School is located at 55 Kings Highway in Amherst, New York. This is the only middle school in Amherst Central School District, which provides educational opportunities for students in grades 6th through 8th. During this transitional time in student’s educational life, it is important to work with the whole child so success will be achieved. Teachers, staff, and administration at Amherst Middle School work with each student on an individual level to ensure success.
The mission of Amherst Middle School “is to be responsive to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional needs of our students”. The school strives to nurture and educate each student to his or her highest level of personal and academic potential.
Amherst Middle School supports learning experiences that are responsive to the developmental needs of young adolescents by creating a balance between elementary and secondary education. The school encourages creativity and initiative, which will enable students to become actively engaged in their own learning while challenging them to become responsible for their success. It is the belief of Amherst Middle School “that through these initiatives, we will inspire our students to become good citizens with strong democratic values, moral sensitivity, and a healthy sense of self-respect.”
