Amber Charter School is a non-profit charter school located in East Harlem, Manhattan. It opened in September 2000 with 120 children in Grades K-1. In 2005-2006 Amber is serving 325 children in grades K-6 in its permanent home at 220 East 106th Street. Amber seeks to expand a grade a year through eighth grade. They Work to provide comprehensive learning experiences that will enable all students to become fully-educated, creative adults, prepared to play leadership roles in New York City and in our global society. They want to enable students to demonstrate proficiency and distinction in all New York State Learning Standards and to enable all students, both Spanish-dominant and English-dominant, to achieve full fluency in both languages.
