Windham-Ashland-Jewett Schools

Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School District is located at 5411 State Route 23 Windham, NY. This New York School District provides education to grades K-12 for the community of Windham. Windham is a town in Greene County, New York, United States and it is Windham is in the west-central part of the county on the northern boundary of the Catskill Park. This School system provides the resources and environment that maximize the opportunity for each and every student to reach his or her academic, creative and athletic potential.

The district will continue to find ways to help make the mission a reality. Some anticipated initiatives include developing individualized education plans for all students to ensure each child meets his/her potential, improving instructional technology and instruction delivery through staff development. The board is also developing an input committee to review curricular issues to assist the school in communicating standards and expectations with families.

Locally Windham is home to the idea of a ski resort in the Northern Catskills was introduced by a New York State legislative committee in the late 1950s. They considered developing a state-run resort on Cave Mountain, just off Main Street in the Town of Windham. Although this project never advanced beyond the discussion stage, the idea took hold and a group of private investors purchased the land for a ski area in 1960 and Windham Mountain was born. During its 45 years of existence the resort has become associated with customer care and attentiveness to its guests.
