Washingtonville Schools
Washingtonville Central School District is located at 52 West Main Street Washingtonville, NY and it serves grades PK-12 in Orange County. The Board of Education is comprised of seven unpaid officials elected by the school district residents to take the formal legal action and assume policy-making responsibility for the conduct of the schools. They serve overlapping terms of three years and New York State law does not limit the number of times a person may serve. The powers and duties of the Board are derived from the State Constitution, the law of New York, and the rulings of the Commissioner of Education.
Board members work at making a living or in their homes - just as you do. Therefore, the Board delegates administrative responsibility to the Superintendent of Schools and will ask him or her to make reports and recommendations to the Board of Education. This is a legal and necessary procedure.
The Washingtonville School District continues to support and promote student success and achievement as well as student innovation and creativity. The district will continue to reach beyond the results of state-mandated assessments to allow our students to be educated to succeed in a changing world and to ensure our students will have the skills to be lifelong learners. The district will support the professional development of their teachers, the administrators and the entire staff to ensure that learning is first-rate and of the highest quality.
