Wantagh Union Free School District language arts program meets the New York State Learning Standards for English Language Arts. The goals for math are for students to acquire and apply math understanding and skills. Often science lessons occur informally as the result of a student’s question or observation. Through hands-on experiences in the classroom and the computer lab, students learn about the parts of the computer, the mouse and the keyboard.
School District libraries curriculum is based on the need for students to develop research skills that will enable them to access print and non-print information. The library curriculum also encourages students to develop a lifelong love for reading. General music curriculum begins in kindergarten and is broadened, developed and practiced with each grade level. Students who are not native speakers of English receive additional instruction in English. The district program follows the guidelines of Part 154 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education.
