New York City District # 5 works to provide programs meeting the social, academic and emotional needs of all students, making sure all children feel important, working cooperatively with parents, teachers and the students through the different grades, and improving the instruction program outcomes according to State testing. The students, parents, and staff are striving for educational excellence. New York City District # 5 recognizes the uniqueness of all students; they work to assist each to achieve his/her potential. The district high schools meet the state's educational high standards in character education programs, including balanced arts and sciences programs aimed to develop citizens who will be analytical and critical thinkers, respecting another's opinion while assuming their responsibility in local affairs, developing a sense of pride in both school and community.
