New York City District #30 Schools
New York City District #30 located at 28-11 Queens Plz N Long Island City, NY. Long Island City was created in 1870 from the communities of Astoria, Hunters Point, Blissville, Ravenswood, Dutch Kills, Bowery Bay, Steinway, and Sunnyside, all in the western part of the Town of Newtown, westernmost township in Queens County. Long Island City is the western-most neighborhood of the borough of Queens in New York City. It is bounded on the north and west by the East River; on the east by Hazen Street, 31st Street, and New Calvary Cemetery, and on the south by Newtown Creek, which separates Queens from Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
It originally was the seat of government of Newtown Township, and remains the largest neighborhood in Queens Borough. District #30 focuses on the development of the school budget in the upcoming year. This is always a challenging endeavor given the many influences beyond our control that can negatively impact the expenditure side of the budget. They will continue to work to create a spending plan that is sensitive to the taxpayers of the district while at the same time provide for the needs of our students.
The community will begin to see the many improvements provided by the passing of the district’s capital project. The District is grateful to the residents for the support received. Those areas targeted by the capital project were sorely in need of attention and addressing them will serve their schools and community well.
