Newark Central School District is located at 100 East Miller Street Newark, NY serving grades Pk-12 in Wayne County. Newark is located in the Town of Arcadia in the south-central portion of Wayne County. Just a short drive from Lake Ontario, the scenic Finger Lakes region, and the NYS Thruway, Newark is 35 miles east of Rochester on Route 31. Historically, Wayne County was originally included in lands of Ontario and Seneca Counties; it became a separate county on April 11, 1823. The county’s history actually begins long before 1823. Some of Wayne County’s early arrivals were veterans of the Revolution who came to take up claims in the Military Tract.

This fact, along with the story of the blockhouse, furnished Wayne County with its major link to the War for Independence; Wayne County ranks high in the production of sour cherries, apples and pears. The agriculture of the county is greatly diversified with the rich muck lands contribution to the production of vegetables. Wayne County offers a distinctive blend of urban amenities that include; Golf, Parks, Skiing, Hunting, Chimney Bluffs, Seaway Trail, Snowmobile, Erie Canal and Nature adventure.

The Newark Central School District Officials recognize the uniqueness of each student, the school staff pledges to foster a desire for educational excellence that will help students achieve their full potential intellectually, physically, socially, morally and culturally. Acknowledging the rapid social, cultural, economical, political and technological changes in American society, the school encourages innovative courses, programs and activities designed to help our students to deal competently with these changes and to prepare them for effective citizenship.
