Livingston Manor Schools

Livingston Manor Central School District is located at 19 School Street Livingston Manor, NY serving grades PK-12 in Sullivan County. Situated on a peninsula of land known as the Island, facing the Willowemoc River and the village of Livingston Manor, the imposing building of Georgian colonial architecture commands the attention and admiration of all. The Livingston Manor Central School has 5 computer labs, 4 mobile computer carts, and approximately 300 computers. 95% of them are PC’s running Windows XP. The rest are PC's running Vista Business. Although many of the computers are "hard-wired" into the network, there are currently also 20 wireless access points throughout the school. No matter where students are in the building and no matter which computer they are using, students are able to access their work.

The 2008-2013 Technology Plans has at its focus an alignment with our district vision and mission and strategic directions. The goals of the Technology Plan center on using technology to further our vision of academic excellence as well as ensuring that students demonstrate proficiency in Information and Technology Literacy Standards as led by the Media and Technology Program. In a time when change is the rule rather than the exception, students need to learn how to adapt to the explosion of new information. In effect, teaching them how to learn is the most critical responsibility we have to students. It is not only about what we teach; it is about how we teach it.

The Technology Plan’s goals speak to the larger issues of preparing our students for their future, providing professional learning for teachers to use information technology tools and resources in the everyday business of teaching, and ensuring proper and adequate funding and resources necessary to equip our classrooms for teaching digitally.
