Kingston City School District is located at 61 Crown Street Kingston, NY serving grades PK-12 in Ulster County. The Kingston City School District represents a unified, diverse, and dynamic community that is committed to excellence in scholarship and character development; ensures the worth, dignity, and well-being of students ands staff; and promotes lifelong learning of students, staff, and community. The Board of Education is composed of nine residents who have been elected by the qualified voters of the Kingston City School District. The Board is vested with the responsibility of setting education policy and carrying out the mandates of the New York State Education Department.
The Kingston City School District includes not only the city itself, but also several surrounding communities. The District encompasses approximately 125 square miles and serves an enrollment of about 8,000 students. The resident population represents virtually all national and ethnic origins, each contributing to the richness of their heritage, forming a pleasant, diverse and progressive community. The District adheres to the idea that a collaborative partnership of students, school district, family, and community is critical to the successful education of all.
The Kingston City School District is stay fast to meeting the New York State Learning Standards, Elementary, middle and high school students continue to demonstrate notable improvement in reaching the increasingly challenging academic standards of the New York State Education Department. Additionally, the district is committed to ongoing curriculum revision and renewal. Goals for improved student achievement are data based and student centered. The district recognizes that a crucial and integral component in the social and academic success of our students is the provision of a safe environment and the integration of character education into all facets of school life.
