Katonah-Lewisboro Union Free School District is located at One Shady Lane Route 123 South Salem, NY serving grades in Westchester County. The Katonah-Lewisboro Board of Education is comprised of seven community volunteers, elected at large for staggered three-year terms. The members are in important communication liason from the community to school staff, and from the staff to the community. The Board is a legislative or policy-making body, not charged with the daily responsibilities of operating the school district. It is an agency of the State of New York, within the powers of the law, for general school supervision.
The Board of Education believes its primary responsibility should focus on creating an educational environment that will help our students become knowledgeable individuals, problem-solvers, quality producers, effective communicators, wholesome individuals, collaborative workers, ethical individuals, life-long learners, and responsible, accepting and involved citizens. We remain committed to providing a high quality, well-balanced educational program that supports our faculty and staff and helps our students meet and exceed State standards as well as high district goals.
Westchester County Schools serves a diverse, multilingual student population of immigrants to the United States. They seek to provide each student with a language-rich learning experience that moves them to a point where they can read, write and communicate effectively in English and their native language. The students will learn to use their minds well to critically analyze and respond to complex real-world issues. They will use what they learn to become successful academically and professionally and to become advocates for themselves and their communities.
