Jamestown City Schools
Jamestown City School District is located at 201 East Fourth Street Jamestown, NY. This school district provides education for grades PK through 12 for the City of Jamestown in the County of Chautauqua. Facilities within this school system are comprised of six elementary schools, three middle schools, and Jamestown High School. The City of Jamestown was incorporated in 1886 and the city has a large concentration of citizens of Swedish and Italian ancestry. Jamestown is the largest city in Chautauqua County, and it is nestled in the heart of the Southwestern New York's grape region.
The town was once called the "Furniture Capital of the World” and Jamestown has hosted thirteen Babe Ruth World Series since 1980. Jamestown is host to the Roger Tory Peterson Institute and the Lucy-Desi Museum in honor of famous Jamestown natives Roger Tory Peterson and Lucille Ball respectively.
The Jamestown City School District follows the New York State Board of Regents adopted learning standards for all areas of study. The New York State Education Department issues the core curricula and these core curricula’s are the foundation upon which State assessments are aligned and developed. There is an abundance of student services available within the school system starting at pre-school age and up to the 21 year old that want to continue their education. Higher learning intuitions in this area include Jamestown Community College, Jamestown Business College.
