Greece Schools

Greece Central School District is located at 750 Maiden Lane Rochester, NY. This New York Public School system is one of the larger districts in the State and it provides education for grades PK-12. Greece Central serves most of the Town of Greece. The Greece Central School District was created in July 1928, but schools existed in the area before the Town was established in 1822.

The Board of Education consists of nine members who are elected by District residents and serve unpaid, three-year terms. The Board is responsible for setting policy within state and federal laws and serves as the community's communication link with the educational staff. During the school year, the Board holds regular meetings on a monthly basis. These meetings, as well as the Board's study sessions, are open to the public.

School district officials will also meet with various community groups to provide information about the budget prior to the May 20 vote. They expect to address the Rotary, Kiwanis, the Greece Chamber of Commerce and Greece Youth Board, members of PASSN, sports and music boosters, the Northgate Neighborhood Association, and members of the local senior citizen community.

In the Greece Central School District, music and visual arts are a crucial and ongoing aspect of our students’ education. Dance is incorporated through movement activities in a variety of classroom settings. As well, theatre concepts are frequently integrated into related class work. Through study of and participation in the arts, our students learn ways to foster creativity, imagination, and a love of learning. Students become knowledgeable about the arts and also discover how the arts can serve as ways to connect to other subject areas.
