East Rochester Schools
East Rochester Union Free School District is located at 222 Woodbine Avenue East Rochester, NY. This New York public school district provides good educational opportunities to the local community in Monroe County, for grades PK through 12. East Rochester is a walking district, but there are crossing guards at many intersections throughout the village to make sure students arrive at school and home safely. Because of our small size, parents here truly get to know each other, the teachers, and staff members. But despite our size, we proudly offer more than our share of programs and activities for students, parents, and district residents
The East Rochester School District serves a residential, easily accessible village of about 7,000, plus about 5,000 residents in parts of Pittsford, Perinton, and Penfield. Perhaps more notably, we’re the only district in Monroe County to house 14 grades pre-kindergarten through 12th in one building, which opened in September, 1995. The campus houses three separate libraries, computer labs, gymnasiums, and cafeterias, while all students share use of the auditorium, indoor pool, and large-group classrooms.
At the elementary school, we’ll continue our implementation of the state’s Universal Pre-K program, and our focus on literacy and school readiness in our pre-school. We’re also extending the primary literacy initiative into first and second grades.
They also continue to implement SpringBoard, a College Board initiative, in grades 6 through 8. SpringBoard is a comprehensive program designed to help students achieve the critical-thinking, reasoning, and writing skills primarily in English language arts needed to better prepare for Advanced Placement courses. This program, which also integrates instructional technology into the curriculum, is one way we’re continuing to encourage more and more high school students to challenge themselves by taking AP courses.
