Cohoes City Schools
Cohoes City School District applies technology throughout the educational system to expand students’ knowledge, critical thinking and problem solving skills and to prepare students to work in an ever-changing society. They continue to provide a variety of opportunities to increase the capacity of staff to meet these needs. The district provides a full-day kindergarten, computer instruction at every grade level, peer tutoring, opportunities to participate in music education, a variety of extra-curricular activities, honors and advanced placement classes, opportunities for college credit through high school courses and several athletic teams.
Cohoes City School District has five education faculties, Cohoes High School, Cohoes Middle School, and the 3 Elementary schools, Abram Lansing School, Harmony Hill School and Van Schaick Grade School. Regulations are incorporated by the seven-member Board of Education, elected by the community of the Cohoes City School District for three-year terms, is responsible for policies and regulations governing public education in the district. The instructional technology team consists of teachers, teacher assistants, administrators, support staff and parents. The district is located about 10 miles north of the city of Albany in Albany County.
