Berkshire Union Free School District is located at 13640 Route 22 Canaan, NY. At the present time enrollment into this district is limited to only grades 7th through 12th.

desires that the staff promotes a safe, secure, learning environment, for young people. Berkshire's secondary students participate in some form of extracurricular activity. Arrays of opportunities exist in the areas of athletics and the performing arts.
Geographically the town of Canaan includes parts of East Chatham, 17% of Canaan residents report German ancestry, and 12% report Irish. Canaan was founded by settlers from Canaan, Connecticut in 1759. Canaan has a population of 1,820 in an area of 36.7 square miles on New York's border with Massachusetts in northern Columbia County, New York. Canaan Four Corners a little east and north of the centre, is the largest village in the town, having a few hundred inhabitants.
It is a station on the Boston and Albany railroad, and a point of considerable business. The location is in a pleasant valley, surrounded by high hills, which give it a secluded appearance. There are a Congregational church, several stores, and two hotels.
