Arlington Central School District is located at 696 Dutchess Turnpike Poughkeepsie, NY. Poughkeepsie was incorporated as a village in 1799. The city is located in the Hudson River Valley midway between New York City and Albany. The Arlington Central School District takes care of all the educational needs in this area for grades K through 12 in the County of Dutchess. The Board of Education is the official policy-making body of the school district and it is made up of citizens elected to serve unsalaried, overlapping terms of three years each.
The Arlington Central School District Mission is to be "committed to the success of each child in a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment. We believe that all students develop intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially at different paces. Our school district will inspire high student achievement, demonstrate commitment to diversity, and continue to develop a strategic plan for future programs and facilities."
Poughkeepsie it is the county seat of Dutchess County, and it is Nestled on the Hudson River, just 70 miles north of midtown Manhattan, Poughkeepsie is the regional center of the arts, entertainment, higher education, health care, transportation, business, and government. Metro-North commuter trains run hourly to and from NYC Grand Central Station.
The area is also home to IBM's large campus and this facility is actually located in the Town of Poughkeepsie. The local community is packed with history, natural beauty, strategic location, and plenty of forward thinking people offer a balanced lifestyle and a sense of place.
